FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you have a brick-and-mortar location?

Nope! Magpie Bakehouse is a home bakery that operates under Minnesota’s Cottage Food exemption. This means that all of your bakes are handmade in a home kitchen while following standard food safety guidelines.

Can I pay with cash or a check instead?

You sure can! If you’d prefer to pay with cash or a check, send us your order via email at hello@magpiebakehouse.com and we’ll be in touch to confirm all of your details.

Can you ship my order?

Unfortunately, under Minnesota’s Cottage Food exemption, we are not able to ship orders. All orders must be picked up from our home kitchen in Richfield, MN.

I have a craving and I need it now—can I order something rush?

Send us an email! It’s not always feasible but we’re happy to accommodate rush orders if possible.

Will you be at my local farmer’s market this year?

We’re not at the markets quite yet but it’s something we’d love to do in the future!

I have an allergy or food sensitivity, can I still try your bakes?

Each of our bakes comes labeled with all ingredients and includes details about common allergens on the label. Please note that these are made in our home kitchen where we also cook with fish, eggs, dairy, shellfish, nuts, wheat, and more. While we’d love to guarantee that your bakes are allergen-free, unfortunately, we’re not able to since our surfaces and tools—though washed and sanitized before, during, and after baking—have all come into contact with allergens.

Can you make me a birthday cake?

It depends! We love a festive upside-down cake or even a cake alternative like a galette or tarte tatin for our celebrations and can always do those upon request. We do offer a browned butter cookie cake as well as an array of cupcakes and single-tier, double-layer celebration cakes in custom styles. If you’re looking for a more highly decorated cake or a multiple-tiered cake, we’d love to refer you to some of our favorite bakeries or other home bakers who do amazing work with cake.

Are you insured?

Absolutely!
